Coarse Fishing

COARSE FISHING

Our main Carp lake is 0.75 acre with an island of willow trees and offers very good Carp fishing. Our 2007 best weights were 23.5 lbs Mirror and 21 lbs Common with double figure fish caught most days. The water provides good sport for most fishing methods, boilies are probably the most popular but floating techniques and margin fishing all produce good results.
We insist on the use of barbless hooks, do not allow the use keep nets and require anglers to have suitable equipment for catching fish of this size.

We also have 2 smaller ponds stocked with mixed coarse fish, one with fish up to 12lbs and the other up to 5lbs ideal for the younger angler or those just wanting more activity. These are ideal for float tackle with sweetcorn and maggots being favourite baits.
We do not stock maggots but these can be purchased from “Scotties” our nearest Tackle Shop, which can be found in Lugley Street, Newport. This is the road parallel to the High Street next to the back of Boots the Chemist.

Our open hours for Coarse Fishing are 09:00 to 20:00 or dusk if earlier.
We require anglers to call at the shop on arrival to pay their fees and to leave before dark.

WE ARE CLOSED ON SATURDAYS EXCEPT FOR COARSE FISHING SEASON TICKET HOLDERS
